As roofing contractors in Niles Michigan we were hired to restore the beauty of this home by installing an upgraded roofing and gutter system.

The shingle chosen was the Independence shingle by CertainTeed. The Independence shingle has a distinctive surface which is the product of an unusual color blending process, but its underlying character comes from the patented Shangle design, featuring a one-piece full-size base shingle, random laminated tabs and deep shadow lines for a dramatic, dimensional appearance no other asphalt shingle can claim.
And to ensure its longevity, a special formulation of embedded copper granules is warranted to protect the roof for a full 15 years against the streaking and discoloration that can be caused by airborne algae. At 250 lbs. per 100 square feet the Independence shingle due to our certifications included a 50 year SureStart warranty that covers 100 percent of the cost of labor, material and disposal to remove and replace the roof if material defects are found during the life of the shingle. The SureStart warranty also includes no prorating during the life of the shingle and covers workmanship for the first 20 years.

The Independence shingles also a features a 15 year 110 mph wind resistance warranty, which can be upgraded to 130 mph if needed.
We protected the roof deck of this home by using CertainTeed’s Winter Guard ice and water shield by applying it to

the first six feet of the roof deck at the eave edges, a the base of all walls were a lower roof meets a second story wall, around all soil pipes, chimneys and around the new Velux triple-flash skylights we installed. On the balance of the roof deck we covered it with CertainTeed’s Diamond Deck synthetic felt.
